Height Increasing Exercises – How You Can Grow Taller Naturally

by admin on August 24, 2010

The desire to grow taller is universal among all human beings. We all want to be “just an inch” taller, no matter how tall we actually are. The average height varies from region to region and culture to culture. Because of the intermixing and overlapping of cultures as a result of globalization, people who are average in one culture, suddenly find themselves short in another, which has further added to the height woes of the modern man/woman.

Insecurity about height is more common among men than women. Men, in most Western cultures, are expected to be taller than women. Short stature in a man, thus, can lead to tremendous insecurity and self-esteem issues.

Height is largely a function of your environment and genetics. If you are born to tall parents, the chances of you turning out short are quite low. At the same time, if you have a poor diet, or if you are physically inactive, you will never see your full height potential realized.

The first step you can take to ensure that you grow as tall as you possibly can is to ensure adequate physical activity. This can range from playing a sport like football, or even taking an evening sprint around the block, and performing some push-ups. But to truly push the limits of your achieavable height, you must perform some exercises that are designed specifically to stimulate growth.

Most of these exercises involve stretching the body and stimulating growth in the growth plates. Stretching exercises like the Bridge, the Cobra, the Wall Stretch, etc., can be very effective in height increase. These exercises also increase the suppleness and flexibility of the body. A lot of Yoga postures combine these height increase exercises.

For height increasing exercises to be effective, you must follow a healthy, nutritious diet consisting of plenty of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Most teenagers in their growing years do not pay adequate attention to their diet and eat a lot of junk food, consequently ending up with stunted growth. You must try and eat as healthy as you can, adding a lot of green vegetables, lean meats, fruits and fruit juices to your diet. Additionally, you must also ensure that you get at least 8 hours of sleep in a day if you want to maximize your growth potential; most of our growth, including height, takes places when we sleep.

Height increasing exercises should be performed by anybody who is looking to grow taller. Not only will they help you to increase your height, they will also help you lose weight, and increase the suppleness and flexibility of the body.
